Hi Ingrid

Unfortunately very little comparison can be made between the Patrobus-1 and Banjo-1A extracts. There were two Patrobus-1 whole extracts run (260.55m and 259.85m), both of which look much better than the Banjo-1 sample. Essentially what we're looking for when we run whole extract GC-MS is the abundance and distribution of C12 to C31 n-alkanes. These components are present in the Patrobus-1 samples (although they are low) but are virtually absent in the Banjo-1 sample. The Banjo-1 extract is comprised mostly of polar components such as acids and esters which could probably be extracted from any old piece of rock.

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for the quick turnaround.

The Banjo curve looks better than the Patrobus-1 one, from a layman’s observation. Can you make any comparison between the GC’s ? Ingrid

Subject: Banjo-1A extract data

Hi Ingrid

I have attached the extract data and graphic for the Banjo-1A 238.5m sample. Unfortunately, the results were a little disappointing. The extract yield was only 34ppm - the sample contains very little organic matter at all. Paraffinic components could not be identified in the whole extract GC-MS trace. Given the very low extract yields and the fact that the extract is comprised primarily of polar ester and acid type compounds, I do not recommend we go ahead with any further analyses on this sample.

Let me know if you have any comments or queries.

Regards

Cindy
